JOB OPENING: Chorus Director, Johnstown Symphony Chorus

The Johnstown Symphony Orchestra seeks a passionate, dedicated conductor to serve as Chorus
Director for the 80-member Johnstown Symphony Chorus (JSC).

The auditioned, all-volunteer chorus serves as the chorus for the Johnstown Symphony and performs several individual concerts throughout the year, including at Christmas, Memorial Day at the Grandview Cemetery, and others.

The JSC meets every Monday night during the concert season from 7-9pm. Candidates should be able to lead at least 90% of these rehearsals.

The director of the chorus reports to the Music Director. Salary will be negotiated with the JSO
board of directors.

Applicants must be available to audition in person with the chorus on either 23 or 30 April, 2018
between 7-9pm in Johnstown. If the candidate is not available on those dates, please note that
clearly within the application. Accommodation will be made if possible.

•    Letter of interest
•    Current CV
•   Three sample programs recently conducted or planned for future seasons
•    Optional: links to at least two contrasting video clips of the candidate in performance or
rehearsal. The camera should be facing the conductor. Clips may be YouTube or Vimeo. If marked
“private,” please include password.
•    Emails and phone numbers for three references who are familiar with the work of the candidate
and can speak to their particular strengths.

If selected to conduct in the final round of auditions, in addition to a warmup lasting no more
than 10 minutes, candidates should be prepared to conduct two selections from Handel’s "Messiah": 
And the glory of the Lord, and For unto us a child is born.
Finalists will also be invited to interview with the search committee.
