Mary Ann McCormick, Mezzo-Soprano
Internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Mary Ann McCormick has been hailed in the press as "charismatic", "spell-binding", and "elegant". Her most recent accomplishments include performances as "Carmen"with Theater St. Gallen, Switzerland of which the critics wrote "She acts and sings a wonderful Carmen" a role she has also performed with Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Teatro Regio di Torinoand the Staatsoper Stuttgart among others. With the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia MaryAnn performed this past spring Das Lied Von der Erde to standing ovations and participated in a gala concert honoring Luciano Pavarotti in Avery Fisher Hall. In recent seasons she made debuts with Teatro la Fenice in Die Walküre conducted by Jeffrey Tate, with Teatro dell'Opera di Roma as "Priyamvada" in Alfano's Sakuntala, and with the Connecticut Opera as "Carmen". In 2005 she made debuts with Teatro Regio di Torino in Il Trovatore as "Azucena", with Opera National de Paris in Elektra conducted by Christoph von Dohnanyi, and with Teatro Regio di Parma in Alceste conducted by Bruno Bartoletti. With the Teatro Communale di Bologna she made her debut in May of 2004 as "Maddalena" in Rigoletto conducted by Daniele Gatti. In July of 2004 this production also toured to Seoul, Korea to great acclaim. In previous seasons MaryAnn had the release of her recording in the role of "Tigrane" in Puccini's Edgar with the Orchestre National de France in Paris and made her debut at Teatro alla Scala in Milan as "Isabella" in L'Italiana in Algeri.
