Inclined to Sing Chorus

Children in grades 5-9 are invited to audition. Boy's voices should be unchanged. The audition will assess tone quality, learning ability, range, listening skills, and pitch matching.

Inclined to Sing Apprentice Choir

Children in grades K-4 may join the Apprentice Choir. No audition is necessary, but children should be musically inclined.

Mission Statement

Inclined to Sing, the Children's Chorus of the JSO, and the Apprentice Choir exist to create and maintain a quality child-centered performance-based choral music experience for young singers in the Johnstown area.

Costs and Tuition

The cost for participation in the Apprentice Choir or Inclined to Sing is $120 a year ($60 per semester). This includes all rehearsals, music, performance shirt, and complimentary tickets.

Rehearsals

The Apprentice Choir rehearses on Tuesdays from 4:30 - 5:20 pm. Inclined to Sing rehearses on Tuesdays form 5:30 - 6:30 pm. Rehearsals are held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1000 Scalp Ave., Johnstown.

Staff

The Inclined to Sing program is directed by Kim Rauch, Andrea Berresford Mulligan, and Mary Beth Rauch. Each is committed to building excellence in music and teamwork for these children.

Kim Rauch is organist/choir director of Trinity Lutheran Church in Somerset and teaches in the Richland School District. He received degrees from the Penn State University and Westminster Choir College. Mr. Rauch has directed the Pitt Men's Glee Club, numerous church choirs, and community choruses.

The Apprentice Choir is directed by Andrea Berresford Mulligan. She holds a B.S. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Music Education and her M.M. degree from Carnegie Mellon. Mrs. Mulligan taught in the Latrobe Schools. She also directs the fifth and sixth grade choruses, small vocal ensembles, and Orff ensemble. She has received advance training in Orff methodology in music for children.
