Young musicians of exceptional talent need enrichment programs just as academically gifted youngsters need challenges beyond ordinary class work. In 1958, the Johnstown Symphony Youth Orchestra was established to fill this need by giving talented young musicians the opportunity to further develop their musical potential. The Youth Orchestra provides a professional atmosphere through which young players may gain a wide variety of experiences. Semi-annual concerts, as well as concert tours to area schools to perform for their peers, will provide the Youth Orchestra members with valuable symphonic performance experiences.
