American @250 Part II: Copland 3
This program brings the season’s theme of Musical Roots to life through a compelling lineup of American works, including Aaron Copland’s Symphony No. 3, Adolphus Hailstork’s tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Epitaph for a Man Who Dreamed, and a newly commissioned work, Lakeside Game, by American composer Caroline Mallonee. Co-commissioned by the New York Philharmonic, the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra will present the second-ever performance of Mallonee’s piece following its world premiere in New York.
