Johnstown Symphony Orchestra’s Four Companion Ensembles and Two Auxiliaries Share Upcoming Events

The Johnstown Symphony Orchestra (JSO) is proud to share events and ways for the community to support its four companion ensembles and two auxiliary groups for the upcoming winter season.

Community Strings – Directed by Beth Pile

The Community Strings Fall Concert will be held on Thursday, November 20th at 7:30pm at St. David’s Lutheran Church, 401 S. Main Street, Davidsville, PA.

The ensemble will be playing light classical music including the Brooke Green Suite by Gustov Holst and Romance op. 36 for Horn and Strings, featuring JSO Principal Horn, Mark Addleman, along with pop favorites including "Puttin' on the Ritz" and "There's No Business Like Show Business."  There will be something for everyone of all ages to enjoy!

Director Beth Pile shares: "I truly love conducting this group of musicians. They are wonderful people, and we have a lot of fun as we put the music together."

While admission is free, donations are appreciated and help us continue bringing music to our community. Come be part of the music, connect with your neighbors, and support these dedicated musicians.

Community Strings will also be performing in Ebensburg at the Cambria County Courthouse on Friday, December 5th at 6:30pm for “Dickens of a Christmas.”

Step back in time and celebrate the season in historic downtown Ebensburg! This festive, family-friendly event brings the charm of a Victorian Christmas to life, with costumed carolers, holiday treats, local vendors, and joyful performances throughout the day.

Join the JSO’s Community Strings ensemble at the Cambria County Court House as they fill the air with the sounds of the season. Performing classic holiday favorites and traditional carols, this talented group of local musicians will add a heartwarming musical touch to a magical day in the Laurel Highlands.

Finally, enjoy a performance from Community Strings at The Russell House in Moxham on December 14th from 3:00-4:00pm.

“Inclined to Sing” Youth Chorus – Directed by Emily Roy

The Inclined to Sing Fall Concert will be held on Sunday, November 16th at 3pm at Oakland Church, 1504 Bedford Street, Johnstown, PA.

Join us for an inspiring afternoon of music with Inclined to Sing, the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra’s youth chorus! These talented young singers will share the joy of music through a vibrant program that highlights their hard work and passion for singing together.

This concert is free and open to the public; a perfect opportunity for families, friends, and community members to experience the energy and artistry of our youngest musicians. Donations are welcome and help support future performances and educational opportunities.
